The small seaside town is a few miles from Baia del Capo, and is a must for every tourist. Its typical location, on a spur of rock, gives it the name of Sea Terrace. Its roots date back to Roman times, and it was marked in history by several invasions, including those Byzantine and Norman. Nowadays Tropea is considered the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, with several examples of the passage of these civilizations. Every place from squares to monuments, to various palaces is a true testimony of architecture related to the styles of the civilizations that followed. To visit the church on the island, now Calabrian tourist icon and the Norman cathedral, located in Largo Duomo, which contains within it significant historical remains. |
